Secrets of Rogue PvP – Rogue Strategy Basics

by on Nov.22, 2009, under Warcraft, Warcraft PvP

Rogues may be the most hated class in PvP. Why? Because they’re so darn good at taking down opponents, often without their foe even getting a chance to fight back. Still, no class is invulnerable, and understanding your Rogue’s many strengths and few weaknesses will surely make you even more annoying to your player versus player foes. First we’ll talk about your strengths.

Rogue PvP Strengths

I’ll say it right out. Rogues are perhaps the most effective and most feared of all PvP classes. Choosing your greatest strength is hard because you have so many of them. If you can learn to execute them properly, your Stunlocks are brutal. A well-executed stunlock can leave your opponent immobilized or staggering around in a daze, and make them easy pickings for you and your teammates. Learn to do this right, and if you have a good Rogue PvP build, few will be able to stand up to you.

Many would say that your poisoning skills are your greatest strength. Most enemies flee Rogues, and your Crippling Poison makes it much harder for them to get away, while your Mind Numbing Poison slows their ability to cast spells against you. Combine these with the rest of a Rogue’s abilities and you’ll drive your enemies to distraction as you terminate them.

Rogue PvP Weaknesses

One big weakness of being a Rogue in large battles is that other players don’t like you very much. Any player who has seen their character stunlocked into immobility while being pounded to death, or poisoned into stumbling incompetence has a score to settle with Rogues. This puts a big bullseye on your back, as your opponents will jump at any chance to kill you.

Your biggest weakness (aside from the fact that every opponent wants you dead) is that executing stunlocks properly is complicated. If you get distracted by some Hunter’s pet, or the Shaman you’re after gets their Earthshield up in time, and you could be in trouble. Also, remember that you need to get in close. Let a ranged fighter keep their distance, and they’ll rip you to pieces.

These are just the basics of Rogue strategy, strengths, and weaknesses in PvP. Most decent players can do well in PvP with just basic Rogue strategy. But to really dominate you need more than that. An excellent Rogue PvP build will be crucial, as will great Rogue strategy ideas for PvP. A Roge PvP guide can help you with things like talent builds, Rogue PvP gear selection, specifics of killing each opposing class, and more.

Really understanding your Rogue PvP strengths and weaknesses is a great way to improve your performance. To learn more about this and other PvP techniques in a guide that has helped others generate a 2214 Arena Rating in weeks, just Click Here.

Why Your Hunter Needs the PvP Bible

by on Nov.13, 2009, under Warcraft, Warcraft PvP

PvP combat is in your Hunter’s future, even if you’ve avoided it so far. WotLK has brought more advanced, real time battles to the game.

The first real time PvP battle zone is Lake Wintergrasp. In this new zone, players face off on the live server to earn points they can use to shop for all sorts of special items, including the new Heirloom items that any of the player’s characters in that account regardless of that character’s level can use.

Given the popularity of Lake Wintergrasp and the increasing amount of PvP combat in other popular games, there will surely be even more World PvP in the future. So let’s talk about Hunters and PvP:

Playing a Hunter class character in WoW Player versus Player combat requires some of the skills of a real hunter. You need to be able to identify the target and figure out how it will react so you can anticipate what it will do next. You also need to know your own capabilities and the capabilities of your gear. And you need to be able to maneuver to the right position to take down your target before they can take you down.

However, in Hunter PvP combat, there are issues that no real-world hunter has to deal with. You need to know when and how to use your Freezing and Frost Traps and essential crowd control devices is one thing. You need to know how to maintain the ideal distance between you and your prey to cause the most possible DPS damage in each fight. And you must do all this against a foe who is trying just as hard to out-think and out-maneuver you as you are to do the same to him.

To truly succeed in Hunter PvP combat, you need to know the strategy and tactics for killing each class of opponent. In particular you need to understand how Druids, Warriors, and Rogues are most likely to come at you. You also need to have a strategy for countering quick charges into hand-to-hand combat range by Warriors and Rogues.

You can learn much of what you need to win as a Hunter in PvP simply by spending time in the arena. But from my own personal experience, if you try this you can expect to get defeated regularly and be humiliated for a long time. You don’t want to know how many hours I spent at the bottom of the standings in the arena before I finally started getting the hang of it. Once I started reading a Hunter PvP Guide, I started climbing in the standings rapidly.

Even if you do decide to learn the ins and outs of Hunter PvP combat yourself, you’ll find that a quality PvP Guide will contain strategies and tactics that are not obvious to newer players. It will teach you the key things you need to know, saving you vast amounts of time and energy you would otherwise spend on trial and error.
