The Right Talent Build

The talent build is crucial for mages. You should try to balance dealing damage and your survivability in difficult battles. I recommend you start out with the Fire tree to level faster in the early stages. You can easily deal with the mobs one by one.

At around level 40, switch to Frost. This spec is perfect for dealing with multiple mobs simultanously. For fast leveling, your goal is not to die because it’s very time-consuming.

The Right Attack Rotation

Not much to say here. Try out different skill rotations and see which one kills the mobs the fastest. It depends for a big part on the talent build you choose, as well as your style of playing.

The Right Questing Path

Once you get Talent Build and Attack Rotation dialed, the only think holding you back is your choice of quests.

The order in which you accept, complete and close your quests is the biggest factor when it comes to fast leveling.

You can ignore “junk quests” (lots of time for little in return) using a leveling guide. They’ll take the decisions and friction out of the game and show you where to go and what to do. And no, they’re not illegal. They follow Blizzard’s Terms of Use.
